We camped at a KOA at the base of Devils tower. It was amazing to see it looming over our campsite. It’s such an interesting, striking beauty.
We arrived in the evening, got all set up, had dinner and enjoyed the stunning wide open view of the night sky.
Good morning Devil’s Tower!
At the visitors center
Getting their Junior Ranger badges
Liam insisted on wearing his backpack like the big kids.
You can only get to the top of the tower if you rock climb, but you are able to scramble on the rocks at the base. Dave and all the kids loved it. Even Liam and I did it. He was so brave and it was tough, but a blast. We even picnicked at the top. The hardest part was doing the mile and a half hike around the base after all our scrambling!
We made friends with our camping neighbors. The kids had a great time playing together. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the camping community is. We’ve met and connected with a lot of lovely people.
Sunset over the tower
Dave, Josh, and our friend Devin went back to the tower at night to star gaze
Time to pack up and head out!
Liam and Logan…these sweet buddies walked with me to take out the trash.
